What makes successful people stand out head and shoulders above the rest? Are they just gifted with the Midas touch or is there something in their water? The truth is surprisingly simple!
Success can be found everywhere and does not necessarily mean financial wealth or business achievement. Success is subjective and can mean different things to different people.
Why? Because people have different ideals, dreams and visions. What one person values highly, another may not.
Which brings me to the #1 thing successful people do.
Successful people have a vision for what they want to achieve. They dream big. They dream in high definition and imagine their goals as achievable pies in the sky (if that’s not too much of an oxymoron!).
Whether that dream is to become the CEO of their own startup business. Or to homeschool all their kids through high school. Or to finally declutter the garage. Success starts with the vision. Being able to see the end goal. And also keep that end goal in mind throughout the journey.
As a Christian, it’s important to keep our end goal (Heaven) in mind throughout our journey here on earth. Being able to see our glorious end enables us to:
- persevere through difficult situations
- not be distracted by other things that would derail us from getting to Heaven (our ultimate goal) and
- make sure that the things we are doing align with our ultimate goal – eternity in Heaven
Keep your end goal in mind
You see, this same practice applies in other areas as well. Keeping your goal and vision in mind will help you to be successful in achieving that goal because you know that it is worth any obstacle you may face. You won’t want to sacrifice your goal to a tempting distraction because you value the goal higher than the distraction. And you can make sure that the things you spend your time on are helping you move forward toward your goal and not backward (or sideways!).
But how do you get a vision?
You have to allow yourself to dream. Pay close attention to what desires stir your heart. Ask God if He put that desire on your heart and wants you to pursue it. Pray! Submit your dream to God and then don’t hold back. Go all in!
Create a vision board
Once you get a vision for what you want to do try and keep it visual. Create a vision board. Or write down your goal somewhere you see it constantly. If you can help to make it tangible even before it has been achieved, you will continue fuelling your hope and perseverance. Because, to be truthful, challenges will come and we hope better in technicolor!
Once your goal is always before you, you will be constantly reminded to press on toward achieving it. Keep your dream alive by keeping it in your mind and on your heart.
So, there you have it. The #1 thing successful people do is dream big, keeping their end goal in mind to continually fuel their passion and drive to achieve that goal.
What you do after you get your vision is a topic for another post!
Success is waiting for you too! Just keep your vision alive.
