If you’re a mum – you’re amazing. Full. Stop. You’re capable of so many things. In fact, I bet you didn’t even know that you possessed these skills every mother should have. When we birth our first child, it’s like we get morphed into these superhero characters.
So I thought it might be fun to look at;
5 Essential Skills Every Mother Should Have
1. Ninja reflexes
You know this is true! You see that bowl of cereal falling off the edge of the table in slow motion and you quickly catch it in time so that nothing is spilt.
It feels like slow motion to you, because you’re really Neo from The Matrix. To everyone else though, you were lightning fast – like a ninja.
2. Strong arms
I know I’m not the only mum to get out of my car carrying a squirming toddler under one arm whilst at the same time carrying ten bags of groceries.
People look at us in amazement. But what many people don’t realise is that raising these little ones of ours has built up our biceps slowly over time. After a few years of carrying young children every day, you and I are like this:
3. Military packing techniques
If you need to pack a bag, load a moving truck, squeeze the last screaming child into the back of the car – just ask a mum! There’s nothing you can’t pack. Nothing too big or awkward. Nothing too bulky or unnecessary. I mean, when they say you’ve packed the kitchen sink, you probably have!
4. Spider sense
“Tommy! Get away from that box!”. Tommy looks around the room for a hidden security camera. Little does Tommy know, your spider sense kicked in the moment the noise level in the living room dropped. And Tommy, who was supposedly “playing with his trains” is once again caught off guard.
‘How did mummy know!’ he thinks to himself as he reluctantly shrinks back from the tantalising mystery package that was delivered that morning.
You knew, because you have super powers mama! Skills every mother should have include Spider Sense. Because our little angels aren’t always little angels!
5. A sense of humour
It’s hard being a mum. In fact, the job requirement of motherhood involves a sense a humour. When your adorable little munchkin has just drawn on the walls with your £30 Chanel lipstick. Or has dropped a carton of eggs onto the carpet. Or put a scissors to your living room curtains. You’ve just gotta laugh.
You’ve gotta laugh, or you’re gonna cry!
So I hope that this post has given you something to laugh about! Cause we need that every now and then (otherwise I would literally cry!).
Let’s laugh with our kids, at the funny things they say and do and let’s enjoy them!
